Floating Around

I have a lot of random thoughts floating around in my head today...   

• I am loving the new Fall boots out right now and wishing I have the budget and an event to wear a pair too.  Since I have neither, I will just dream about these and these, oh and these too.
• The hubs, baby girl and I went to the new Disney store at our local mall tonight and had a blast watching Little Pea explore everything.  It was a truly fabulous family night, which was such a nice surprise to a Wednesday night.
• When is it going to cool down enough to where my long sleeve shirts and jeans?  I'm missing my Autumn clothes.
• I've already have my Halloween decorations out.  I know it's early, but Little Pea is loving it.  We read pumpkin books everyday at lunch time and she loves to say Pumpkin Patch.  (When she says it it sounds like, "Puh-kin Pa").
• Lastly, I have a super fast layout to share.  I got this done in under 2 minutes!  Hee!  I had a favorite photo printed on 12X12 paper.  Then when the print arrived in the mail, I added a tag with the date on it and called it done.  It's just been one of those weeks. We all have them, right?

 

Winner, winner

As you all know there are a lot of blogs out there that do giveaways.  I used to leave comments on these posts all of the time....  I never won anything.  I gave up.  

Now it's very rare that I attempt to win a giveaway.  I only enter if it is something I'll probably buy anyway.  And guess what?!  I'm sure you know where I am going with this.

They look so seriously fun!  Joyfolie has a shop if you are interested.  I think Little may need a pair of these or these.  I'm totally addicted.  Joyfolie has got a new customer for life.  :)

The Artist

Little Pea got this fun easel for her b-day this year.  It got me thinking...  What hobbies will she enjoy when she is older?  (As you can see from her Master Piece above, she already has an artistic side.)

My sister has her fingers crossed that she will take up quilting.  I, of course, have dreams of sitting next to her and scrapbooking our days away.  My husband would like to have a little golfing buddy.  (I just hope he doesn't make her caddy the entire time.)  

We all know that we don't get to decide.  

Little Pea has had an independent personality from day one.  She will have her own interests.  She will make her own way.  I feel so lucky to get to watch her grow into her own.  Each day makes me smile when I see what life has in store for her.

Digi Scrappin

I've mentioned before that not all people scrapbook with paper, some are all digital and some are a hybrid of traditional and digital.  I'm a "traditional" or paper person.  But..... (There's always a "but", isn't there?)  I recently got Photo Shop Element (PSE) and am loving all it can do.  I stay up at night an surf the web for fun tutorials on how to do... everything.

This week, Ali Edwards posted a video tutorial on how to use her digital elements in PSE.  I thought, what the heck.  I'll give it a try.  And here's what I created.

I purchased the digital journalling tag and then added in the text.  If I decide to use this on a page, I would then print this out and adhere.  Pretty simple.

This may be a super simple Photo Shop trick, but for a beginner like me it took a little time.  I'm really proud of myself.  :)

After playing with the above tag for a while, I wasn't sure I liked the different fonts and colors, so I tried this one. 

I think I like the second one better.

I'm really liking these journalling tags and can see me using them quite a bit.  They work for me since I don't usually hand write directly on my pages.

Love that Hat

Do you ever find a piece of clothing that you end up wearing over and over again?  This hat, for my daughter, was one of those items.  It was a real deal in a local Target and man did we get our money's worth!

It's black and white, which I love, because it goes with every outfit.  Score!  But is also has an under the chin strap, so she is much less likely to take it off.  She wore this thing all summer long.  To the park, to the beach... you name it, she wore it.  I got so many complements on it too, which always make a Mama feel good.  :) 

This layout is basically more beach vacation pictures, but I thought I'd title it after the "hat".  

Oh, and I've never used a banner on a page before.  What do you think?  Are you a banner person?  They are so popular right now and well, I'm on the fence, as to whether I like them or not.  I'll get back to you on that.

Scrap it up!

My Studio Calico kits were delivered to my front door about an hour ago!  You know what that means.....  scrappin time!!

My awesome Hubby has made it a habit to take Little Pea out on a dinner date the day my kit arrives, thus leaving me home alone (except for my doggie) to scrap it up.  

This is SC's main kit this month, Back 40.  I'm lovein those Jenni Bowlin vellum butterflies.  They are just beautiful!

I just couldn't help myself and bought the Harvest Moon add-on too.  I'm not normally into holiday themed paper, but again I fell in love with the Jenni Bowlin Halloween Chipboard buttons.  That vintage looks is so hot!  The alphas are super cute too.  I was totally surprised.  They sparkle and have a little orange bling on them. 

So that is my night...  I'll be playing with paper.  :)

Minnie Mouse Hair Clips

Since we have an annual pass to Disneyland we've been quite a few times this year.  Truth be told I was never a huge fan of the place.  Those long lines and crowds... just not my scene, but then we went last year with my nephews, and somehow I got swept up in the Disney magic and bought a pass.  

It's all so different when you have a child that is experiencing the magic for the first time.  Now that I have the pass, I love it.  I love being able to go for one hour or all day.  The flexibility is key with a toddler in tow.

While at Disneyland, I saw these adorable Minnie Mouse hair clips on these little girls and thought... hum... I could totally make those.  As you know, the lines for rides are a bit long, so I studied the way the clips looked and committed it to memory.  I found out later they are all over the place on Etsy, but still decided to make my own.

Was this task do-able? .......... Yes

Was I up until 2 am several nights in a row making these? ................ Yes

Would I do it again? ............ You bet! 

These were an extra little item in the girl's goodie bags at Little Pea's kid birthday party.

Here is how I packaged them. It's all in the presentation for me.  :)  Sorry for the horrible glare on the plastic baggies, but you get the idea.

Little Pea wore her clips on her actual birthday when we went to Disney and she did pretty good at leaving them in.

It's over....she's two

 All of the birthday party events for Little Pea are over.  Her actually birthday was an action packed day.  We started it off with a special breakfast, pancakes with whipped cream and sprinkles on top.  (She only ate the candy off of the pancakes, but it's her day right?  Who am I to judge.) Then it was off to Disneyland with Grammie, where she saw Buzz Light Year.  That really made her day.  We also went to Mickey Mouse's house in Toon Town and Little met Mickey.  I was so proud of her.  She went right up to him and gave him a big hug and kiss.  My little fearless girlie.

At night both sets of Grandparents came over for dinner, cake and to watch the ceremonious present opening.  I had another incredibly proud moment when she blow out her own candles. 

I think this may have been her favorite part of the entire day.  After she blew them out she wanted "more", so we lit them again and did a second round.  How perfect was that request on her part for this picture taking Mama?  Thanks little girl.  I got the shot I wanted the second time.  :)

And just like that I am the Mom of a two year old.

My baby turns two today.  Happy Happy Bday my little dear!

I've been busy the past week planning her friend party. (We had it this past weekend.)  I made a few crafty things for the event that I will share, as soon as life calms down a little.  Until then, this is just a quickie birthday hello.

 

The Green Monster

I'm sharing yet another vacation layout.  You'd think those were the only pictures I have...  don't worry...  they aren't.  :)  I'm sort of in love with this page.  I hope you enjoy it too!

Journalling Reads:

 We went to Boston this June for the Dodgers Red Sox game.  We got to the stadium early and took a tour of Fenway.  We went all over the park and sat in the old wooden chairs behind home plate and the Monster seats.

When the game started you loved it.  The crowded stadium and cheering fans made you smile.  You ate your first hot dog.  You’d laugh and clap every time the fans cheered.  A couple of times Daddy got upset when you cheered for the wrong team.

It must’ve been a lot for you to take in because you fell asleep on my shoulder in the 4^th inning and didn’t wake up until the 8^th.

Final score 5 to 4…   Red Sox.  Boo!

This page sums up so much of our vacation this summer for me.  Going to Massachusetts with my parents has been something we've wanted to do for a long time.  Also, going to Fenway with my Dad was so important to me.  He grew up going to games there and I wanted to share a game with him too.  The fact that it was Little Pea's first game ever was just icing on the cake for me.

If you are not familiar with The Green Monster well then you are obviously not a baseball fan.  I feel like I was born knowing what it was.  I think baseball is just in my DNA.

The design for this layout is the new sketch from STUCK?! (you can see it below or over at the STUCK?! site).  I flipped it on it's side and went crazy.

My journalling got a little long on the page, but I've found that pages with more journalling become my favorites to look back at later.

 

 

 

 

It's pretty obvious that this tag punch is my favorite right now.  I have been using it on all of my layouts.  

It was a little tricky to punch this journalling out.  I had to print it out twice to get the over lapped looked I wanted on the page.

I used inked the edges of the tags with some Distress Ink before adhering them to the page.
